SANJIESAN LORE / BUYING GUIDE

Choose a worldbuilding workspace around what you share

A hosted worldbuilding workspace can be useful when your notes need links and controlled sharing, but a long feature list is not a reason to move every draft. Choose one small collaboration problem first. Keep a folder-based option in the comparison if ordinary documents already provide the structure and sharing your project needs.

Describe two real reader roles

For a bounded original project, one collaborator might need the full city record while a reader should see only a short public introduction. List the required records and the expected access for each role. World Anvil’s official feature and pricing pages describe linked worldbuilding features and paid membership differences. Confirm the exact current plan requirements rather than assuming a homepage demonstration is included in every tier. Do not move private project material merely to see whether a control exists.

Use harmless sample records

Prepare three invented entries with one cross-link and a deliberately non-secret test note. Plan to inspect how the intended reader view differs from the collaborator view using the provider’s current guidance. Ask what happens when a contributor leaves and how the project retains an understandable copy. A visual access toggle is not by itself a completed privacy assessment. Keep real unpublished lore and personal information outside an exploratory sample until the project has approved the actual workflow.

Choose the commitment after the sample

Compare the smallest suitable plan with the existing document workflow, including ongoing administration and the current billing or cancellation terms. A feature needed once may not justify a larger long-term commitment. State what the retained copy must contain: article text, images and the relationships needed to interpret them. Ask how a departing contributor affects that copy and the remaining roles. Buy when those answers show a useful improvement over the documents you already maintain, rather than merely a more impressive place to store them.
